Our STEM students built a robotic hand and then designed and built their own robots!
STEM students were given the challenge to construct a robotic like hand.
This activity was inspired by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration).
Students utilized the engineering design process to guide them as they built the robotic hand and improved its design. This project helped to introduce students to the methods engineers use to approach and solve a design problem:
- Ask a question
- Imagine a solution
- Plan a design
- Create that model
- Experiment and test that model
- Take time to improve the original
The students worked in teams to complete the robotic hand, and then the teams participated in a Robotic Grasping and Manipulation Competition. Students took the concept of the robotic hand and then designed and built their own robots.
