SAINT MICHAEL’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY ATTEMPTS to RAISE $50K  in CHILDREN’S SCHOLARSHIPS FUNDS  for MANDARIN-ENGLISH DUAL-LANGUAGE PROGRAM

FLUSHING, New York, October 20, 2019/PRNewswire/ – Saint Michael’s Catholic Academy, the only Mandarin-English Dual-Language Catholic elementary school in New York State, is holding their Fall Gala on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Sheraton LaGuardia East from 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Hosted by Linda Schmidt, FOX 5 News, the evening’s events will include formal recognition of Most Reverend Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, The Rotary Club of Flushing, and Mr. Thomas James for their outstanding to commitment to Catholic education in Queens, special student performances, and other exciting activities.

Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio will receive the Saint Michael Archangel Award for his continual support of Catholic elementary education in Flushing and  his national advocacy for immigrants in the United States.

The Rotary Club of Flushing will receive the Community Leadership Award for their long-standing support of marginalized families in Flushing through acts of charity which includes the annual Christmas Party for the families of Saint Michael’s.

Mr. Thomas James,  a former faculty member of Saint Michael’s, will be honored with the Excellence in Education Award for his 25 years of parish involvement and outstanding teaching and mentoring within  Catholic school systems in New York and Florida.

Leaders from throughout Queens such as City Councilman Peter Koo, District 20; Most Reverend Bishop Massa, Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn, Vicar for Education; Dr. Thomas Chazutko, Superintendent, Catholic School Support Services; Ms. Veronica Tsang, Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Administrator of Cathay Bank; Monsignor Jaime Gigantiello, Vicar for Development; and, Mr. Peter Tu, Executive Director of Flushing Chinese Business Association and District Leader of the Democratic Party, will be attending to help the school meet their fundraising goal.

Proceeds from the raffle and gala will be dedicated to scholarships and financial aid to help children attend Saint Michael’s Catholic Academy; a unique Dual-Language Catholic school serving children from PreK through Eighth Grade in the heart of Flushing.
